What was school like for your grandparent?
How much has school changed since your grandparent or elder went to school? Ask him or her which school they went to or who taught them. What did they take to eat for lunch? How many hours was a typical school day back then? How many terms were in a school year? What did they write with? What subjects did they study? What fun things did they get up to? What is their very favourite memory from their school days?
