More Indig health workers vital to better outcomes

Having more Indigenous health workers is vital in improving health outcomes for Indigenous people say’s the Federal Opposition's Indigenous affairs spokesman Tony Abott.
Currently taking part in a bike ride to raise money for Aboriginal health scholarships at the University of Sydney, Mr Abbott says there is a concern that many Aboriginal people still feel they are outside the health system.
"I think that if every time you see a doctor, it's a white fella. Every time a nurse treats you, it's a white person," he said.
"You get the impression that health is for other people, not for Aboriginal people.
"It's very important that we do all that we reasonably can to stop that, because if people don't get access to the services they won't get the treatment and they won't get the results."
