Feet First

Your feet might be a long way down, but you should pay attention to them. They may not be the prettiest body part, but your feet are an engineering marvel, supporting your weight and transferring complex forces from your muscles to the ground to support you and help you walk and run. Each foot contains 26 bones, 33 joints and more than 100 muscles, tendons and ligaments. Together, they make up a third of the bones in the human body.

Sight for sore eyes (Eye Health)

Is your eyesight failing? This advice will have you seeing well into the future. Going to see an optometrist (an eye doctor) can help prevent, heal or reduce damage to your eyesight, but 35 per cent of Indigenous adults have never been to one. Here, Joy McLaughlin, Indigenous Programs Manager for The Fred Hollows Foundation, helps us to ¡®see‘ why visiting an optometrist is so important.

Space invaders (Home Hygiene)

Our homes can be dangerous places where bugs and bacteria breed. Care and lots of soap and water are your best defence. Sickness can be caused by inadequate domestic or personal hygiene. Not cleaning the toilet, not getting rid of rubbish, not washing clothes and bedding frequently, and not storing food properly are some examples of poor domestic hygiene.
