This Week on Deadly Sounds - May O'Brien
Author and former teacher Aunty May O’Brien won this year’s Deadly for her lifetime’s Outstanding Achievement in Indigenous Education. Aunty May started teaching in 1957 at Mount Margaret Mission in WA where she also attended school years earlier. She spent 20 years teaching and moved into administration where she strongly influenced Indigenous education policy and set up models for delivery that are still in place today. Deadly Sounds was enchanted by Aunty May as she told us her life story.

Celebrity Health - Patrick Johnson
In 2003, the fastest sprinter in the world was Patrick Johnson, who ran 100 metres in 9.93 seconds – the world record at that time. He remains the first ever non-African person to hold the world record. These days Patrick is in training for the 100m and 200m sprints for the 2010 Commonwealth Games in New Delhi, India. The selection trials are in April 2010 at the National Championships in Perth where Johnson’s task is to beat the field and ensure he runs it in under 10.21 seconds. Go Patrick! read more

After three fabulous years of support from the local Ceduna community, the crew from Vibe will be returning to Ceduna with their all new ‘Super Saturday’ National Indigenous 3on3 Basketball and Hip Hop Challenge – the Vibe 3on3® –on Saturday November 21, 2009. This will be the fourth time the popular sport and music festival has visited the far west coastal town, but the first time in this exciting jam packed one day format. read more
